Mouthpiece Tom Arthurs and Fuzzy Logic Ensemble

“Composers spend their lives cultivating their musical vocabulary with which to speak out to the world, but who will be their mouthpiece?... and which accent should they use?”
The answer is Arthurs and the ensemble is Fuzzy!

“Mouthpiece” is a collection of music written for trumpet and ensemble, in which the trumpet becomes the voice of the composer, inciting the ensemble to express themselves collectively about the joy and the heartache in the world around us. The music is inspired directly and indirectly by speech; patterns, emotion and expression.

This music will be performed between the 1st and 8th of May in the following venues:

Tom Arthurs is an superb young trumpet player and an exceptional exponent of a thriving London jazz and improvised music scene. No stranger to large groups Tom is a member of the F-IRE collective and has worked with a vast array of superb jazz artists, certainly not least Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor. For this special concert series Arthurs will join forces with Ireland's most original and formidable collective Fuzzy Logic Ensemble.
Fuzzy Logic Ensemble is probably the most ambitious jazz group currently based in Ireland, with some of Ireland's finest young contemporary musicians coming together to perform the lyrical yet hard-hitting music of composer Dylan Rynhart. Since it was formed in 2002, this hard working group that has developed a style of their own, setting them apart from most Jazz bands with the flexibility and sonority of their unique approach.
